CO-3: Observation Policy

Teaching Strategies GOLD is used for formal assessments which occur 3 times per year and are conducted for all children who have attended the program for at least 90 days. The observations will document what children say and do, with whom, and where they play. They will be written as objective and factual notes, which include direct quotes of language and descriptions of actions and occur across a variety of activities, locations and throughout the daily schedule. Observations will cover development and learning for the child socially-emotionally, physically, in language, cognitive, literacy and mathematics. Ongoing informal observation and documentation will be conducted throughout the school year for all children who have attended the program for at least 90 calendar days and will include family observations if available. Assessment results will be shared with families/caregivers at least 3 times per year during parent teacher conferences.
